Seasons of Belgium

One day I was finally organising my photos into actually understandable folders and then backing them up, when I realised that, this was the only time when I saw my photos. When I was organising them…

I just had terabytes of photos that I’ve taken over the years laying around that no one got to see. I’d obviously post them to Instagram, sometimes, when I was in the mood. Perhaps I’d use them in school projects. But that was the extent of my exposure to my own photos.

So I took it as a sign go print my work. But instead of printing those into singular photos that’d eventually lose, I’d make photography book. I shall note that it was quite convenient that I was also a graphic designer who knew a thing or two about layout and DTP.

The concept came in naturally as I was selecting the photos. To have this book as documentation life change as the seasons go. That made it easier to sort an enormous amount of photos into something understandable. And it may have also came from my obsession with weather and clear distinction of seasons. I, after all, like to romanticise the weather.

It is also, quite a biased photo selection as I wouldn’t go out in the downpour as I’d like to keep my camera safe and dry (as well as myself). So this is not a perfect representation of Belgian seasons, but it is the way I saw them.
